New Season, New Challenge.

2006 RCSL Champions – ‘The Rock’
The Rock’s 2007 season will be the busiest and most exciting
in their history, featuring an attempt to three-peat as national
RCSL champions, the Anglo – Canadian Challenge against English
County Champions Lancashire, and high profile games against Irish
Colleges and Canada. The Canada game will be their last game before
taking off for France and the 2007 Rugby World Cup.The Rock will
relish this game in view of the rejection by the Canadian selectors
of several of their best players, and the Newfoundland public will
welcome Canada back following their superlative performance against
USA in St John’s on 12 Aug 2006.
The Rock will visit Toronto for a preseason tour with a depleted
squad and will blood several young players. They will play Irish
Canadians on Sat May 19 and the Crusaders on May 21.

on Jun 16 and v New Brunswick on July 14.The Away games will be
against Toronto on Jul 21,Halifax on Jul 23 and Niagara on August

‘”We will have most of our players back again this
year including Rod Snow,Sean O’Leary and Chris Mooney”
commented coach Pat Parfrey.”Brian Cook and Brendan Parfrey
have retired ,Mike Webb will be occupied with Canada ,as may Ciaran
Hearn who has blossomed as a carded player in Victoria.Tyler Wish
is on the road to recovery from his cruciate knee surgery and
we are optimistic he will play during the summer.Mike Yetman is
also considering a return to active play following his knee surgery. Our
regular squad(Walsh,Densmore,Williams ,King,Hill,Alcock,Buseman,Kevin
and Owen Parfrey ,Fagan,Meyers,Simpson,Paul,Blanks,McKenzie,Wilson,Warden,Picco,Rudofsky)
will all play, and we have added some fine young players to the
group including Chris Burt,Mike Holloway ,Matt Clarke,Colin and
Steve Penney,Jolon Jenneaux,and Cyril Bugden”
Captain Peter Densmore is really looking forward to the 2007
season.”There’s a great buzz at training and everybody
is looking forward to some excellent games.Nearly all the East
teams improved last year.and the schedule isn’t favorable
with the traditionally difficult games against Ontario teams taking
place in mid summer heat. However we believe our team hasn’t
peaked yet,-- we aim to improve the quality of our play, and enjoy
our journey together”.
